How to add a school calendar to Google or Apple Calendar

Got the school calendar with every half day, early dismissal and no-school day? Here's how to get those dates into the calendar you actually use — the manual way for Google and Apple, and the fastest way (a photo) at the end.

Add a school calendar to Apple Calendar (iPhone)

If you have the calendar as an .ics file (many schools link one, or MiloMint makes one for you), this takes one tap:

  1. Open the .ics file — from Mail, Files, or a share sheet.
  2. Tap Add All when Apple Calendar opens.
  3. That's it — every event is on your calendar.
Want them in a Google calendar but you're on an iPhone? Turn that account on in Settings → Calendar → Accounts first, then choose it as the calendar when you add. It syncs back to Google.

Import a school calendar into Google Calendar (on the web)

Important: the Google Calendar phone app can't import a file. You do this once on a computer, and it syncs to your phone.

  1. On a computer, go to calendar.google.com and sign in.
  2. Click the ⚙️ gear (top-right) → Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Import & export.
  4. Under Import, click Select file from your computer and choose the .ics file.
  5. Pick which calendar to add to, then click Import. All events land at once.
On your phone and don't have a computer handy? Share the .ics file to yourself (Mail or Google Drive), then open it later on a computer and import.
